The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is everywhere. It is no wonder that the worldwide market for engines is huge. It was about $235 billion in 2001 and is probably over $400 billion now.

According to the EPRI Report (ref 1), in 1997 there were 24 million engines in the USA alone. The total value of only reciprocating ICEs produced in 1999 was approximately US $20 billion (ref 2).

In the decade of the 2000s about 100 million ICEs were produced annually worldwide. Estimates suggest there are probably about one billion ICEs in use worldwide (refs 1,2,3,4).

Considering that the ceramic CRE engine is superior to metal ICEs, the potential for a product like the CRE engine to penetrate the worldwide ICE market is unprecidented in marketing terms.
